Grotesque, it is beyond me how people can do this. Britain has a completely undeserved reputation of being a nation of animal lovers, this is pure hypocrisy. Some species are vilified and scapegoated and referred to as 'pests' - whereas humans are by far the biggest pest and most destructive species on the planet. Bird shooting, hunting with dogs, badger baiting - the pastimes of a nation of 'animal lovers' - no the pastimes of a nation that likes to kill things then finds ways to blame animals for nature depletion
This report is profoundly disturbing even though I already knew most of the facts. These birds have a dreadful start to their poor little empty lives and the very best they can hope for is a 'clean kill' at the end of their lives. That is a devasting indictment on the whole shooting fraternity - it is totally sickening in every possible way. Every single 'country sportsperson' (rom the upper echelons - including royalty - of society to the lowest) should feel deeply and endlessly ashamed. They are contemptible.
I agree with Stephen et al. I would like to add that humans are the cruellest, most vicious and greediest species on the planet. Sums up the shooting "industry" for me, (amongst others, of course, e.g fox hunters, badger baiters etc!). Treating any living creature so disgustingly is completely inexcusable and absolutely heart breaking.

How humans can do this and look at themselves in the mirror is beyond me. Thank you for being these precious animals' voice. <3
